New York Comic Con 2015
This past weekend, I made my annual geek pilgrimage to New York City where I attended the largest pop culture convention in America, the 2015 New York Comic Con. I have not seen the official number of attendees this year, but I am told it’s close to 167,000.
Large crowds make me anxious and just a wee bit claustrophobic. So, why go to a show where 167,000 smelly people are? For the spectacle. As a graphic designer, there is just so much to see. Everywhere you look there is something that makes you want to take a picture- from the people who have labored way too long on their homemade costumes to props used in the new Batman Vs. Superman movie.
I look at this trip as a way to recharge my creative battery. It takes me completely out of my routine and drops me into another culture for three days. Everyone in their own way should do this. I am not saying you have to fly to New York to attend a convention. It could be something as simple as taking a different route home today. Turn off the radio and roll down the windows. The change of scenery will do you good and it could help you see that decision you have been pondering in a different light.
